Synopsis

What’s your approach for choosing the materials and techniques you use on your patients?  This event will feature a lively debate with three clinicians from different stages in their careers, to compare notes on how they go about choosing their products and treatment approaches as well as the reasoning behind different biomaterial choices.

Dr Erica Hwin

After graduating from The University of Sydney in 2022, she began practicing in Brisbane, where she continues to share her journey and growth as a young dentist navigating the profession. She launched The Graduate Dentist Podcast to create a platform for open and honest conversations about the challenges and triumphs all young dentists face. Erica is deeply involved in the Graduate Dentist community and is passionate about making dentistry feel a little less isolating. She frequently organises social meetups across Australia, presents to university students, and collaborates with industry leaders to bridge the gap between experienced clinicians and new graduates. Through her various initiatives, Erica hopes to build a thriving community where young dentists can feel supported, empowered, and ready to tackle the many hurdles that come with the profession with confidence.

Dr Greg Peake

Dr Greg Peake is a Specialist Periodontist in Canberra.  His practice is restricted to primary and revision implant surgery and he has been exclusively implant based for over 20 years now.  His periodontal training was completed in Melbourne and he has qualifications with both the Royal Colleges of England and Edinburgh.  He is a Fellow of The Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons and the ITI and currently has a special interest in managing peri-implant complications.

Dr Ashi Singh

Dr Ashi Singh is a general and implant dentist with more than a decade of experience across private and public practice across three continents. She earned her postgraduate Certificate in Oral Implantology from the Harvard School of Dental Medicine in 2021 , training under internationally recognised mentors in implantology.  Her advanced training includes the Advanced Surgical Curriculum in Regenerative Implant Dentistry under Prof. Istvan Urban, soft tissue management at the University of Bern, and microsurgical training with Dr. Rino Burkhardt. She is a member of the Royal College of Physicians and surgeons of Glasgow. Her research on the field-of-view of CBCT received a research grant from the American Academy of Implant Dentistry, went on to win the European Association for Osseointegration Audience Award for Clinical Video Presentation in 2022, and was subsequently published in Clinical Oral Implants Research.

Since returning to Australia, Dr Singh has held implant-focused roles within private setting in Sydney.

Dr Peter Norton - Moderator

Peter graduated from the University of Adelaide in 2004. He works in general dental practice in both rural and metropolitan New South Wales. Peter also works with various dental associations, societies and companies to produce CPD materials for the profession.
